Awards recognize standout work from KUT News, Texas Standard, and KUTX 98.9 � including “Best Health Reporter,� “Best Radio Reporter,� “Best Radio Station" and "Overall Excellence."

Texas Standard producer Sarah Asch and KUT News journalists are leading a free teen journalism workshop at the Austin Central Library, July 16, 23 and 30. Teens ages 13�18 will learn core reporting skills � interviewing, research, and storytelling � to explore and share the stories of their communities.

Summer internships at KUT Public Media are more than just a resume boost � they’re an immersive, 30-hour-a-week experience that gives emerging professionals a real feel for life at a public media organization.This year’s intern cohort is especially dynamic, made up of current students and recent grads � some studying here in Austin, others returning home for the summer after time away at school.

KUT and "Texas Standard" earned top recognition at the 2025 Texas Broadcast News Awards, winning nine honors � more than any other newsroom in the large market radio category. Presented by the Texas Association of Broadcasters, the awards highlight excellence in local journalism. KUT News and "Texas Standard" were jointly recognized for Overall Broadcast Excellence, with standout wins in digital storytelling, election coverage, feature reporting and more.

Eight interns joined KUT News and KUTX 98.9 this month and have quickly become integral members of their teams. They are actively contributing by pitching ideas, writing stories for both on-air and online platforms, and gaining firsthand experience in the fast-paced environment of a community focused radio station.
