NPR won't announce the winner of its until Feb. 12, but the submissions are all in. Unsurprisingly, there are a good number of entrants from the Live Music Capital of the World, and they're all collected below.
The first-ever Tiny Desk contest received more than 7,000 submissions involving about 40,000 musicians total.
The contest winner will fly to NPR headquarters in Washington, D.C., and perform a concert at the media outlet's famous Tiny Desk recording corner, a space formerly visited by the likes of , , and .
The winner will also play a South by Southwest showcase in Austin in March.
Although only one band will win and earn their spot behind Bob Boilen's desk, Austin made a good showing on the list of competitors. You can watch a playlist of the submissions below, which we've collected in order of video views. After receiving shout outs on , Kalu James, Madisons and Pony Trap lead the pack. Still, there are 33 other Austin artists, and desks, to check out, so get to work.
