Hike-and-Bike Trailhead Under MoPac Gets $350,000 Renovation

"The Rock", as it is known to many, is receiving an upgrade that will include a wider trail, more granite blocks, and several water fountains.

The most popular entrance for the hike-and-bike trail at Lady Bird Lake is The Johnson Creek Trailhead, , will get a wider trail, more blocks of granite for stretching and sitting, several water fountains and a rainwater garden featuring native plants, the Trail Foundation said in a press release.

The cost of the upgrade is pegged at $350,000. The biggest donations have come from the Austin Parks Foundation and the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation.

The Trail Foundation is currently trying to raise money for a on the south side of Lady Bird Lake under I-35.
