Dallas-based sports insurance and promotion company is suing former cyclist Lance Armstrong for more than $12 million.
The damages, the company says, are for prize money paid to Armstrong for his 2002, 2003 and 2004 Tour de France wins, and for legal costs accrued during a previous lawsuit.
In 2005, Armstrong sued SCA Promotions for withholding prize money (the company claims to have delayed payment because of doping allegations) and as a result, testified in court that he had not used performance-enhancing drugs.
Since, Armstrong has admitted to doping in a with Oprah Winfrey and has been titles by the USADA. SCA Promotions filed the suit Thursday alleging that Armstrong鈥檚 admissions are evidence that he breached his contract with the company.
Armstrong鈥檚 confession during the Jan. 14 interview caused many to and criminal charges that the cyclist might face.
