Original post (Sept. 6): Austin’s annual Pride celebration, which kicked off Sept. 1, builds to a close this weekend. The theme of this year’s events, held by the ? “Love Unites.�
Pride week culminates on Saturday with several events:
- : Beginning at 9 a.m., racers will head up the South First Street bridge, then make a loop around part of downtown Austin. Runners will be greeted at the finish line with a spray of edible rainbow-colored powder, a post-run dance party, and wellness expo.

- : The festival features an expansive list of musical guests, and will include photo booths, face painting, and food. The festival will be at east Austin’s and will last until 6: p.m.
- Group Wedding: In the evening, a symbolic group wedding ceremony will take place in front of the . Participants will take the lead at the Pride Parade.
- : The parade will head down Congress Avenue beginning at 8 p.m. Downtown roads between Trinity and San Antonio Streets will be fully or partially closed on Saturday night. Sections of Congress Avenue will be closed after 6 p.m. for the parade. Streets immediately surrounding the Capitol will also be shut off beginning at 3 p.m.
